This ESRI course covers the range of functionality in ArcGIS 9.3. Class exercises emphasize the use of ArcMap and ArcCatalog on common GIS tasks and workflows. The course covers the creation and management of GIS data, data display and analysis, geocoding and address matching.  This class covers all of the basics that you need to effectively use this software on your own. Class size is limited to 14 students.

Topics covered include:

     •  Managing and displaying geographic data and tabular information with ArcCatalog and ArcMap

     •  Map symbology and display of categorical and quantitative data.

     •  Display of attribute information with labels or annotation and controlling that display.

     •  Coordinate systems for GIS data and the use of map projections for data display and analysis.

  • Solving spatial problems with queries and data analysis .
  • Creating and editing GIS data
  • Geocoding and address matching in the ArcGIS enviroment
  • Customizing the ArcGIS environment for an effective work environment.
